My prophylactic double mastectomy because of a genetic mutation 8/20/20

Controlling what I can!💪🏻👊🏻

I will not mourn what I have lost! I will think of all I have gained! And I will forever try my best to empower women to believe we are so much stronger than we think! 💪🏻👊🏻🙌🏻

These drains- actually make me proud💪🏻

“Knowledge is power!” I know this because I found out in February 2020 I carry a genetic breast mutation that causes me to have a 45% lifetime risk. I’m here to inspire and encourage other women. I want to empower them to be strong in what may seem like one of the darkest moments of their lives. I’m Alli. I’m 45. I’m a nurse. And I’m brave. I had a bilateral prophylactic double mastectomy with tissue expanders placed on 8/20/20 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. My exchange surgery (to exchange the expanders for the implants) will be in November or December. I’m super positive. I never think of what I’ve lost. Instead, I think of that I’ve gained. Please join me on this honest ride. My real story of my prophylactic mastectomy. A story where I’ll share EVERYTHING!
